Easybits.com

I came across this program on the BBC's website. It is a child-friendly shell for Windows suitable for children aged 2 and up. My son recently turned 2 and loves getting his sticky fingers on the computer, and I have been looking for a suitable introduction to the world of computers. I will revisit this post when Magic Desktop has been destruction tested by the boy.

Magic Desktop has some great graphics; however, it is relative new, unstable, and only includes a hand full of games and no educational content. I recommend Kidview Computer Explorer to my customers. Kidview has been around longer, is very stable, and includes over 450 educational programs. Kidview Computer Explorer is published by Hoopah (http://www.hoopah.com).

I have two children useing the Hoopah Kidview software. They love it!! The software works great and I don't have to worry about what my kids are doing on the computer any more.

I've had a chance to compare KidView, EasyBits and PeanutButterPC and found the latter to be the most stable and user friendly around. What sold it for me was complete ease of use, despite the complexities involved. check it out... www.peanutbutterpc.com
